Amazon is set to buy Whole Foods in a $13.7 billion deal. As soon as the deal was announced, stocks for Whole Foods and Amazon soared. At the same time, grocery stores like Kroger saw their stock prices fall. The newly announced Amazon deal is currently pending approval from regulators and Whole Foods’ shareholders.
